Marine mammals: assessing the effects of hearing injury from underwater noise for environmental assessments

You will need to assess the effects of hearing injury in marine mammals if your marine development activity generates underwater noise.

You can use the methods in assessing the effects from hearing injury in marine mammals to undertake an assessment of the impacts of the noise.

As a developer or consultant it is important that you use these methods.

This will provide enough information to allow you to complete an environmental impact assessment (EIA) and the competent authority to undertake a habitats regulations assessment (HRA).
