Best Available Techniques (BAT) aim to prevent or reduce emissions and impacts on the environment.
Industrial installations with specific types of activity must use BAT to prevent and reduce emissions to air, water and land.
The UK is no longer required to implement EU BAT Conclusions published after 2021, but permit applications should continue to meet UK BAT requirements and retained pre-2021 BAT Conclusions. Newer EU BAT Conclusions may be used to demonstrate current good practice where relevant.
