SoNaRR 2025: Map

The map presented shows an overview of the extent of Wales’ eight broad ecosystems. The map is based on data created by Living Wales, a project by the Department of Geography and Earth Sciences, Aberystwyth University which is funded by Welsh Government. 

The maps should be used as a general guide for illustration purposes and show where these ecosystems can be found across Wales, along with known management boundaries. 

We have re-classified the Living Wales dataset to better represent the coastal margin and Urban ecosystems. Data used for this re-classification includes NRW open data and data from the Ordnance Survey, alongside NRW's expert opinion.
