The Environmental Permitting (England and Wales) Regulations 2016, Schedule 1 Installation - Section 1.1: Combustion activities - Part A (1)(a) Burning any fuel in an appliance with a thermal input of 50 or more megawatts.

This is an application for a new bespoke installation which permits the operation of diesel-fuelled engines for the purpose of providing emergency power supply to the Newport Campus during times of major power outage or black out to the National Grid.

We are minded to grant the permit. We will only grant a permit if we believe that significant pollution will not be caused and the operator has the ability to meet the conditions of the permit. Any permit we grant will include appropriate conditions to protect human health and the environment.
